Near the end of the article is a picture that compares bark beetle damage to fungal damage in the Reserve and golf course.  The fungal damage is obvious, remains unacknowledged by authorities and is probably attracting bark beetles.  The report in the article concludes that increased UV radiation and aluminum poisoning from aerial spraying in our skies is creating an environment attractive to fungus and beetles.
