Access to affordable, fast and updated broadband internet technology is becoming increasingly difficult across California, with many communities only miles from city centers suffering from complete lack of service or poor and spotty service by large local utilities, such as AT&T. Now is the time to stand up for your right to fair, affordable and modern internet access. 

On April 13th, 2016 Bill AB2395 cleared the Committee on Utilities and Commerce, meaning AT&T is one step closer to cutting landlines and DSL, which serves a significant part of rural CA. Their plan is to move rural communities to mobile data, which is slow, expensive, unreliable, and has inadequate caps on data use.

Simultaneously Bill AB1758, which was drafted by rural broadband activists and sponsored by assemblymen Mark Stone, Eduardo Garcia, Marc Levine, and Mike McGuire was killed before it even got to committee. Bill AB1758, otherwise known as the Internet For All Now Act 2016, extends state funding and grant programs to local agencies and consortiums to plan and build community based internet solutions in communities throughout the state that have been ignored by big telcom.
