The Issue

Growing up in Lawrenceville, GA, skating has been more than just a pastime; it’s been an integral part of my life and the lives of many other locals. Unfortunately, the nearest skateparks are a lengthy drive away, making it challenging for us to indulge in our passion as often as we'd like. Having a skatepark closer to home would mean the world to us and provide a safe, fun, and inclusive space for skaters of all ages and skill levels.

Tribble Mill Park, with its vast open spaces and beautiful landscapes, serves as the perfect location for a new skatepark. Not only will it benefit skaters from Lawrenceville, but it will also attract enthusiasts from neighboring communities, fostering connections and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. A skatepark would complement the park's existing amenities, offering something new and exciting for the youth and families.

Creating a skatepark involves more than just pouring concrete. It requires thoughtful planning and design to ensure a facility that meets safety standards and the diverse needs of the skating community. With the right support and resources, we can collaborate with skatepark designers and builders to create an incredible skatepark that our community can be proud of.

Lawrenceville's community has often voiced its desire for more recreational options, and this skatepark will directly respond to those calls. By investing in local infrastructure, we not only support our current community members but increase property values, draw tourism, and provide a safe recreational outlet for young people.

Please sign this petition to bring a skatepark to Tribble Mill Park. Your support is crucial in showing local officials that our community is united in this vision for a better recreational future in Lawrenceville, GA. Join us in this effort to enhance our beloved park and enrich our community's culture and lifestyle.

Responded
As Parks and Recreation Director, I have opened a dialogue with the constituent that organized the petition. Unfortunately, a skate park at Tribble Mill Park would go against the conservation easement, so we are discussing other options at a skate park in the vicinity. I cannot promise any immediate results but I and my team will evaluate his proposal for feasibility. Chris Minor Director, Parks and Recreation | Gwinnett County Government
