Our children, our community, and our beloved Newington Gunners Soccer Club are in need of your support. Five years ago, we were forced to leave our home ground on the promise a new ground would be built, but since then, no action has been taken by the Parramatta Council. In 2127 we love our soccer! And the Newington Gunners is more than just a club; it's the heart of our community. Our kids are passionate about their game, but they have nowhere to play.

Since losing our ground, we've seen a significant decrease in member numbers. Despite this setback, through much hard work and dedication, we're finally seeing growth again. However, without a home ground to call ours - progress remains an uphill battle. Parents are forced to fight heavy traffic to train out of area and we can’t offer simple facilities such as change rooms or a canteen during home games.

The absence of local sports facilities not only affects the physical health of our children but also their mental well-being (source: Australian Institute of Health). Furthermore, local sports clubs like ours contribute significantly to community cohesion (source: Australian Sports Commission).

Parramatta Council have said construction on Newington Reserve will be completed by July 2026, but after many years of promises and push backs we have little faith. 

We urge you to compel Parramatta Council into action - start construction on a new soccer field immediately, to be ready in time for the 2025 season. This isn't just about building a field; it's about nurturing dreams of keen young players and strengthening our community.
