Please feel free to use templates to ministry of environment
also add your own personal story , frustration .
This is just suggestion but please feel free to write your own .
Hi all, Thank you Diana Farrugia for continuing to lead the charge on the wastewater treatment plant issue. I have seen your recent email asking community members to email the Ministry and I think this is great! I do have a suggestion, we should all send a similar and well articulated message in order to get the attention and traction we deserve. The email address provided in Diana's update for you to send this to is: halla.salih@ontario.ca
As a suggestion, for those willing to take the time to send an email (WHICH IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), please consider any one of the two templates shown below. Simply copy and paste either one of them directly and add your name to the bottom. It would also be ideal if the subject line of the email was consistent. Here are my recommendations, but open to suggestions/input:
Subject: Request for Ministry Assistance Regarding Fieldstone Wastewater Treatment Facility
EMAIL TEMPLATE 1:
I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the ongoing health, safety, and quality-of-life impacts affecting residents of the Fieldstone community in Mono, Ontario.
For more than a decade, residents have been forced to live with a wastewater treatment facility that has never functioned properly since its installation. Due to these persistent issues, the Township has refused to assume ownership of the facility from the developer. As a result, we continue to endure frequent sewage odours and constant traffic to and from the site, significantly impacting our daily lives.
Obtaining accurate and transparent information about the facility’s condition and operational issues has been extremely difficult. As homeowners, we have no leverage with the developer, Brookfield, while the Township deflects responsibility on the basis that it does not own or operate the facility. This has left residents effectively powerless, with no clear path toward resolution.
As a resident of the subdivision, I believe we are owed clear communication and a concrete plan to address these long-standing failures. Despite the lack of progress, our monthly flat-rate fees continue to increase, with no justification or explanation provided.
We are respectfully requesting the Ministry’s assistance and guidance on how residents can apply appropriate pressure to bring this matter to a resolution. Conditions are worsening, odours are becoming more severe, and there is no indication that the parties involved are any closer to achieving a fully functional system. The community cannot endure another decade under these conditions.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We appreciate any support or direction the Ministry can provide.
Sincerely,

EMAIL TEMPLATE 2:
I am writing to formally request the Ministry’s intervention regarding the ongoing failure of the wastewater treatment facility serving the Fieldstone subdivision in Mono, Ontario.
For over a decade, this facility has failed to operate as intended. As a result, the Township has declined to assume ownership from the developer, citing unresolved deficiencies. In the meantime, residents continue to experience persistent sewage odours, increased service traffic, and the associated health and quality-of-life impacts. These conditions are unacceptable for a residential community.
Residents have repeatedly attempted to obtain clear and accurate information about the status of the facility, its deficiencies, and any plan for remediation. These efforts have been met with limited transparency and shifting responsibility. Homeowners have no authority or leverage with the developer, while the Township maintains that it cannot act because it neither owns nor operates the system. This regulatory gap has left residents without meaningful recourse.
As a resident of the community, I find it deeply concerning that there is still no clear path toward a compliant and fully functioning wastewater system. Despite the absence of progress, residents continue to face increasing monthly flat-rate fees, with no justification or accountability provided.
We are requesting the Ministry’s guidance and support to help bring resolution to this long-standing issue. The situation is deteriorating, odours are intensifying, and there is no indication that the parties involved are moving toward a timely solution. The residents of Fieldstone should not be expected to endure these conditions indefinitely.
We respectfully ask for the Ministry’s assistance in identifying next steps, oversight mechanisms, or enforcement actions that may help ensure this facility is brought into proper operation.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to your guidance.
Sincerely,
