A beautiful federation designed house by well known and highly respected architect Robin Dods 'Harwich' in Bayview Terrace, Clayfield is under threat.

This timeless colonial home is unique in many ways. But most importantly, it stands proud as one of three in a row Robin Dods designs and together the three houses epitomise clever, traditional Queensland architectural design. Nothing of its kind can be found anywhere in our State.

In Robert Riddel’s 2008 UQ PhD thesis, RS (Robin) Dods 1868-1920 : the life and work of a significant Australian architect,  'Harwich' is discussed. The extract relating to ‘Harwich’ can be found here:

From the proposed Development Application plans, it appears that the back half of the 'Harwich' house (1936 aerial photograph below) is to be demolished, which will destroy the features Robert Riddel considered of design significance. Robert beautifully articulates the importance of Dods works in our State and can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/mBWbdlw38iE

Please help conserve Brisbane’s architectural heritage and save 'Harwich' our hero.  Sign this petition and help preserve this unique history and aesthetic of our State. http://chng.it/ZQCNymZ9ct
