Bring Ricky Home; An Afghan Interpreter who served in the US Military
The Issue
When I served in Afghanistan, my interpreter Mustafa “Ricky” Orozgani put his life on the line to help us. But after serving faithfully and heroically alongside U.S Marines in Afghanistan for over a year, he’s now being denied asylum in the United States.
On the battlefield, Ricky and many other interpreters like him have shown tremendous courage and bravery. They have been fighting alongside U.S and NATO forces for years and have saved thousands of lives. They take on many risks and endure countless hardships to keep us safe. The least we can do is grant them a safe haven in the U.S.
Once serving with the U.S. Military, it's hard for interpreters like Ricky to live thier lives without fear of being targeted by the Taliban for aiding us. And after the U.S withdrawal in Afghanistan, individuals like Ricky are most vulnerable to the violence happening there.
In the Marine Corps we have a saying, “He who bleeds with me today, to him I call Brother.” That's why I started this petition -- to bring my brother to safety.
