The Issue

Growing up as a lifelong Wolves fan, nothing captured the excitement of matchday quite like hearing The Liquidator ring out around Molineux. As commented by opposing managers, the atmosphere that was built from it was that not known in any other football stadiums. That moment - when the players walked out and the crowd came alive - was pure magic. It wasn’t just a song; it was the heartbeat of the stadium, a tradition that connected generations of supporters and set the tone for everything that followed.

For too long, that feeling has been missing. The Liquidator has always been more than music - it’s part of who we are as Wolves fans. The roar, the rhythm, the sense of unity - it brings the entire ground together like nothing else.

Anthems and songs such as Impossible Dream, Hi Ho Silver Lining, Wonder of You and more recently Fields of Gold have all been tried. But quite simply, at a time when the connection between the club and supporters could use a lift, bringing it back would be a simple but powerful gesture to rekindle that togetherness. It is such an easy yet powerful win. The atmosphere it would generate ahead of the game would be electric.

There’s been some misunderstanding over the years about why it stopped being played, with many believing it was banned by West Midlands Police. But that’s not the case - the decision has always rested with the club and we believe the club, frankly, has hidden behind the "banned" narrative. That means the power to bring it back lies right where it belongs: at Molineux.

While there is some colourful language often chanted during the song, this doesn’t have to be part of the experience for everyone. In family areas, supporters can (and often do) choose to enjoy the music in their own way - with family-friendly alternatives or simply by soaking up the atmosphere. It’s the spirit and the shared passion that matter most.

Football is about community, tradition, and pride - and The Liquidator embodies all of that. Let’s show the club that fans want this part of our heritage restored.

Join me in calling for the return of The Liquidator to Molineux - and let’s bring back the sound that unites us all.
