The issue

Growing up as a 13-year-old in the digital age, I've come to realize that Gen Z has been deprived of the joy and excitement that older generations experienced through teen magazines. Imagine flipping through bright, colorful pages filled with captivating stories, pop culture, funky stickers, random surprises, posters of your favorite bands and actors, and engaging quizzes that test your personality. Unfortunately, these teen magazine have been replaced by magazines that are either too childish or for adults

Teen magazines were more than just reading material—they were a creative outlet. They offered a sense of discovery and a unique connection to trends, music, and fashion. They featured projects that sparked creativity, like DIY crafts that you could try on a lazy afternoon. For many, they were a fun escape into a world where you could express yourself freely and discover new interests.

Bringing back teen magazines would not only offer entertainment but also inspire today’s youth in the same way that earlier generations were inspired. We need physical copies that we can hold, tear apart for collages, and keep on our bookshelves. They provided a sense of belonging and community that is hard to find in the digital realm.

I believe that Teen magazines  like from the 80s or 2000s should return because they offered a creative, communal, and tactile experience that today’s digital content can’t match. They gave teens a shared culture, thoughtful storytelling, and something physical to collect and enjoy—bringing back a slower, more intentional way for young people to explore identity and pop culture .

Let's urge publishers to consider reviving teen magazines and give Gen Z the opportunity to experience the tactile excitement, the conversations with friends over shared magazine stories, and the joy of finding that one article that seems to speak directly to them.

Sign this petition to support the re-introduction of teen magazines and bring back the vibrant, creative, and interactive medium that so many of us have missed. Together, we can show that there’s still a vibrant audience for this cherished slice of culture.
