Bring Back a Full A&E Department at Wycombe Hospital

The Issue

Wycombe residents have waited nearly 20 years for the return of a fully functioning Accident and Emergency department.

It is unacceptable that a growing town of more than 140,000 people still has no A&E. Families in life-threatening emergencies must travel to Stoke Mandeville, Wexham Park, or Oxford — long, stressful journeys that can cost precious minutes when every second counts.

Since the closure of Wycombe’s A&E in 2005, residents have repeatedly voiced their concerns. Despite this, we have continued to be overlooked. While we welcome the recent £20 million investment in Wycombe Hospital, these plans fall short of addressing the town’s most urgent need: emergency care for our residents, right here in Wycombe.

As our Member of Parliament and a Cabinet Minister with the ear of the Health Secretary, Emma Reynolds MP has both the platform and the influence to make this happen. Wycombe residents are calling on her to stand with us and fight for what is right.

We, the undersigned, call on:
Emma Reynolds MP,
The Department of Health and Social Care, and
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust
to work together to restore a full Accident and Emergency department at Wycombe Hospital.

Our community deserves:
24-hour emergency care within Wycombe for cardiac, stroke, trauma, and critical cases
Government funding to rebuild and staff an A&E that meets modern standards
A fair review of emergency coverage and patient outcomes for Wycombe and surrounding areas

Why this matters:
Wycombe is a large, diverse, and growing community that deserves access to life-saving care close to home. The continued absence of an A&E represents a serious and unacceptable gap in our local healthcare provision.

We have been let down before by previous MPs and governments. Now, with a new Labour government committed to rebuilding the NHS, this is the time to act.

It is now or never. Wycombe deserves its A&E back.
