Bring back 7-Installment plan (Teesside University)

Bring back 7-Installment plan (Teesside University)
The Issue
The recent decision by Teesside University to cease the 7-months installment payment plan has garnered significant concerns among international students. This abrupt change directly impacts the lives of these students, many of whom are already managing multiple financial responsibilities. The increased financial burden resulting from the new payment structure puts these students in a challenging situation, as they now face the prospect of managing higher installment payments while also juggling their other financial commitments. With tuition fees amounting to a substantial £8500, the sudden shift in payment terms has placed undue stress on these individuals, jeopardizing their academic pursuits and overall well-being.
The implications of this alteration in the payment plan are profound and far-reaching. The academic aspirations and holistic development of international students hang in the balance. For Sep-22 intake students, with the new payment schedule demanding the initial installment by October 31st, followed by subsequent payments on November 30th and January 31st, students are grappling with insufficient time to reconfigure their financial plans. Followed by Jan-23 students, 28th February, 31st March & 31st May 2024. If this change persists, it could lead to a cascade of negative consequences, including increased anxiety, reduced academic performance, and strained mental health among the affected students. Moreover, the overall quality of education at Teesside University may be compromised as students struggle to manage their financial stress alongside their studies.
The urgency to address this matter cannot be overstated. Immediate action is imperative to mitigate the potential adverse effects on the academic journey and mental well-being of international students. By reverting to a more accommodating installment plan, Teesside University can demonstrate its commitment to fostering an environment where students can excel academically and thrive emotionally. Time is of the essence, as the approaching payment deadlines loom large, intensifying the distress among students who are already grappling with significant financial pressures. We, the concerned stakeholders, strongly advocate for Teesside University to reconsider its decision promptly and adopt a student-centric approach by restoring a 7-installment plan. This action will not only relieve the burden on students but also reflect the institution's dedication to supporting the diverse needs of its international student community.
