We propose Nintendo add a dedicated “Classic 3-Lap VS Mode” alongside the current offering. That way everybody gets to race as they want.

The changes made in version 1.1.2 have significantly reduced access to traditional 3-lap racing experiences online, leaving racers with the preference for 3-lap racing feeling betrayed, and significantly reducing interest in online play.

Mario Kart’s core appeal has always been intense, skill-based racing on carefully designed circuits. The traditional 3-lap format allows for strategic gameplay and the satisfying mastery of track layout. Many players purchased Mario Kart World specifically for online competitive racing.

In-between routes often feature wide, straight highways that reduce the strategic depth and excitement of traditional Mario Kart racing. The open-world sections, while charming for exploration, don’t provide the same competitive racing experience. Nor do they provide the ability to use the new tech (rail and wall riding) as these strategies aren't helpful to gaining advantage on highways.

We love Mario Kart World’s innovation and appreciate Nintendo’s creative vision. The open-world elements bring fresh ideas to the franchise, and we’re not asking to remove them entirely. We simply want choice - the ability to experience both the new open-world gameplay and the classic Mario Kart racing that has defined the series.
