Change the Morning Announcer at William Penn High school

Change the Morning Announcer at William Penn High school
The Issue
The beginning of a school day is very slow. Students and faculty groggily rise from their beds and travel to their jobs and desks, almost ready to start their morning. But everyone handles their mornings differently; some are irritable, some sleep on the bus, some haven't gotten enough sleep for a multitude of reasons. So it is important for student and staff alike to be slowly eased into the day, so they can be productive, attentive, and happy. Morning announcements should be not only informative, but tame in their tone and demeanor, to be respectful to those still tired and adjusting to a new morning. At William Penn High School, this is not the case. The school announcer, while quite enthusiastic and full of school spirit, comes off as jarring and disagreeable to some of the people that attend the school. The lengthy announcements cut into teacher instructional time, and the students that the announcements are directed at often tune them out, listening to their headphones to ignore them- mostly because they are spoken at an uncomfortable volume, which can be distracting from the announcements themselves. There are a plethora of options to remedy the situation, such as letting the student body do the announcements, sending out power points or documents to teachers so they can tell the students in a much clearer format what activities and dates are important for them to remember, or record screencasts and send them out to teachers, so each class can control the volume, and rewind the video so no one misses any important information. If administrators are willing to cooperate with students and teachers to solve this issue, then we can make William Penn a more enjoyable experience for students and teachers alike.
