Boycott Black Tech Fest (BTF) Until They Meet Standards for Fairness and Equality

Boycott Black Tech Fest (BTF) Until They Meet Standards for Fairness and Equality
The Issue
We stand with the staff who have been silenced for too long
Boycott BTF is dedicated to exposing the hypocrisy of Black Tech Fest (BTF). Despite BTF’s outward claims of supporting and uplifting Black talent in tech, their actions behind closed doors tell a very different story. Many of BTF’s majority black staff have experienced chronic underpayment, toxic work environments, and mistreatment by those who should be leading by example. This is a call for justice. It’s time to hold BTF accountable and demand change.
Our mission is simple:
To raise awareness of the mistreatment of employees and to bring an end to the harmful practices that perpetuate inequality within BTF - a platform meant to celebrate and uplift Black professionals.
BTF is run by Colorintech, an organization with many hardworking individuals committed to creating opportunities for diverse communities. However, BTF itself has become a money grab, focused on hosting an extravagant event that squanders sponsorship funds and serves as an ego-boosting exercise for its senior management.
Despite raising millions of pounds, many of BTF’s majority black, majority-female staff have experienced chronic underpayment, toxic work environments, inappropriate workplace conduct and mistreatment. We demand accountability and meaningful change, starting with the resignation of those responsible for fostering this toxic environment.

OUR DEMANDS:
1 | Immediate Resignation of Complicit Senior Management
We call for the resignation of complicit senior management, whose actions and leadership have directly contributed to a hostile and unjust work environment for Black staff at BTF. Their hypocrisy and failure to uphold the values BTF claims to represent cannot be ignored.
2 | Fair Pay and Treatment for All Staff
The majority of BTF's workforce is Black and female, yet they face consistent underpayment, micromanagement, and emotional abuse. We demand that BTF commit to equitable, industry-standard pay, fair treatment, and safe working conditions for all employees, particularly Black and female staff members.
3 | Public Accountability
Colorintech must acknowledge its wrongdoings and publicly commit to transparent investigations, leadership restructuring, and steps to ensure the wellbeing of current and future employees.
4 | Support for Former Staff
Many who have left BTF have faced lasting emotional and financial harm due to their time with the organization. BTF must take responsibility and provide reparative support for those impacted.
