Reduce The Content for 2021 A Levels
Reduce The Content for 2021 A Levels
The Issue
Exams were cancelled in 2020. Students who were in year 12 missed 6 months of meaningful education, and have still not gone back properly now. The majority of learning is still online and this is not as effective as classroom learning. Some students cannot learn at all online and are at a bigger disadvantage than their peers.
The now year 13's have been given an extra 3 weeks before their exams start, to try and cram in 6 months worth of content. This adds unnecessary pressure during what will already be a stressful time! Exams should either be cancelled again or the content reduced to give them the chance to obtain the grades they need for their future plans, including going to University.
If exams are to go ahead, reduced content is needed and NOT an extra 3 weeks! Students do not want to be forced to stay for an extra amount of time to try and cram in so much content through a problem that was not caused by them. Students are already suffering increased anxiety and worry about how they will cope with the upcoming exams having lost out on so much this year.
Please think about the mental health of all students and put a plan in place that will help and support them without making them feel isolated and alone.
