International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
One woman who is doing a great deal to accelerate equality is Else Kvist, from New Europeans.
Please sign and share Else's Courage Call:
Don't Make Citizens Pay Price of Brexit - Give EU citizens the vote
Else was denied her vote in the 2019 EU elections and since then has been working with New Europeans to secure a public inquiry into the #DeniedMyVote scandal.
In October 2019, Else put New Europeans in contact with actor, writer and political activist Kate Willoughby, who campaigns in the role of the suffragette Emily Davison.
Since then New Europeans and #Emilymatters have made common cause in demanding that the rights of EU citizens in the UK and Britons abroad be fully protected.
Taking inspiration from the suffragettes, Else and Kate know that the rights of #the5million will not be ring-fenced and guaranteed until EU citizens in the UK and Britons abroad have the vote.
That is why we have chosen International Women's Day to highlight the connection between the courageous call for the franchise by the suffragettes and the campaign for #the5million to have the vote today.
What Millicent Fawcett said over 100 years ago still holds true today:
"Courage calls to courage everywhere and its voice cannot be denied."
On International Women's Day, why not take a lead from Else and Kate and join New Europeans as a member?
Just like the suffragettes over one hundred years ago, it is still the case today that only by standing together and building a sustained, broad-based campaign can we secure change and win the right to vote which is still denied to millions of EU citizens and Britons abroad.
Your contribution as a member will mean that we can continue to stand up for the rights of #the5million, today, tomorrow and in the future.
Join New Europeans today!
