Mississauga is an ever growing city with a lot of youth. Bored youth. Youth that are looking for something to do outside their houses. They’re (myself included) itching to get out. This pandemic has taught us that being outside and getting physical exercise is great for your mental health as well as your physical.

Going for walks is fun and all, but in my eyes, I feel Mississauga lacks local, FREE, outdoor sports facilities.

Mississauga lacks well made skateparks and would benefit from having one in Gulleden park. The city has plenty of prefab, pop-up style skateparks which do not allow everyone to progress their skills. They are limited and get boring, especially for beginners.

Gulleden Park would also be a perfect place to implement a boxed soccer field. Mississauga valley and the city centre are home to these fields and they are a hit with the youth. In the summer it is hard to get a turn to play since there are so many people waiting! Adding a field in Gulleden Park would give more people in the area access to free semi-organized sports and allowing youth to develop their skills with others in the community!

Gulleden Park's redevelopment opens up a great opportunity for the City of Mississauga to build a skatepark and a boxed soccer field in a populated and growing part of the city which will allow the youth in the area to meet and build community, while getting exercise.

Let's make this happen and help keep the youth in Mississauga happy, active and continue growing in this city!
