We are shop owners in Oatley, NSW, Australia, and today we are speaking up for our rights and those of our community members. A mobile tower has been proposed to be installed directly above our shop and the residents above, imposing what we believe to be unnecessary risks and disturbances to our business and nearby residents.

This poses serious concerns, particularly due to the close proximity to our business and neighbouring residents, While we understand the need for improved mobile connectivity, the proposed location is unsuitable.  Placing a tower so near to households exposes us to constant electromagnetic radiation, a valid health concern. Studies show that constant exposure to this type of radiation may have negative health effects, including potential increase in cancer risk (Source: World Health Organization).

Moreover, the aesthetic appeal and property value of our community and business are in jeopardy. Mobile towers are not only considered eyesores, but their presence could also depreciate the value of neighbouring properties and businesses (Source: Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics study). 

We are raising our voices and asking the responsible authorities to reconsider the proposed location for the tower. Please find a more suitable place, further away from the residential area, ensuring the well-being and concerns of the community are considered. Please support our fight against the placement of this mobile tower. We urge anyone who believes in the preservation of residential wellbeing and safety to sign this petition.
