There is currently a 12 year wait-list for Adults with Developmental Disabilities to get services on the Med-Waiver due in large part to the low reimbursement rates.

In the year 2000, Autism was reported at a rate of 1 in 100. Those children are now turning 18 years old, and will begin to fill the Med-Waiver and group home roles quickly in coming years. ABA Therapy is the gold-standard for working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Qualified therapists in Florida typically do not work Med-Waiver, as the rates are even lower than standard Medicaid. As a result, this population is woefully underserved and is prepared to grow exponentially. A rate increase to match Medicaid's rates for BCBAs, BCaBAs, and Behavior Assistants should be given at this conference.
