In the 2018 Belleville Municipal Election, Tyler Allsopp finished 7th in Ward 1, Belleville. He missed out on the 6th and final spot on council by roughly 1000 votes.

Unfortunately, last November, Belleville lost an amazing Councillor in Pat Culhane.

It has been common practice to fill vacant seats in council with the next individual who received the most votes. In this case, that individual is Tyler Allsopp.

However, in this case, 4 members of council decided they would not support democracy and the will of the electorate and instead, decided to create an ad-hoc committee to appoint someone to that vacant seat.

There is an opportunity to still do the right thing in this situation and council can revisit appointing the next in line (Tyler Allsopp) to this vacant seat at its next meeting on January 25th.

By signing this petition, you are sending a clear message to Mayor Panciuk, Councillor McCaw, Councillor Kelly and Councillor Sandison that you believe that the next in line from the last election should be appointed to the vacant seat on council.
