We started together! Let's graduate together! I am not sure that all of you are aware but our friend Becky Ersser has had an extremely traumatic couple of months and unfortunately had been hospitalised and is still on her road to recovery in hospital. I know that the idea of graduation has spurred Becky on in her recovery and kept her going, and the knowledge that she won't be graduating with us has been devastating. Becky was less than 1000 words off completing her final essay of the year. Something that due to health complications Becky was unable to do. This has meant that she is unable to graduate this year. Becky, as I am sure you are all aware has been a hard working and dedicated student since day one. Her attendance to lectures and seminars is better than anyone I know - even with her crutches. At Bath Spa you take your modules each year and you can drop your lowest credit module. Becky has completed everything else for her degree with high marks and great feedback from all her tutors. So knowing that one essay that will be dropped anyway has stopped her being able to graduate - has made no sense. With all the hard work and effort that Becky has put into the last three years, we feel it is so unfair not to let her graduate. We would like to try and do everything we can for our friend to make sure that all her work doesn't go to waste. As far as we are aware the decision over Becky's graduation lies in the hands of the Vice Chancellor, so we need all the support we can get! If you know Becky and disagree with this decision.
