Abolish slavery in America-remove slavery code for prisoners from the 13th amendment
The Issue
Millions for Prisoners Human Rights March and iamWe Prison Advocacy Network does not believe that slavery codes should exist anywhere in the world. Yet, the u.s has legalized modern day slavery by the 13th Amendment of the u.s. constitution. This law allows slavery and involuntary servitude of a convicted prisoner. An entire prison industrial enslavement complex has been built on this constitutional law. Visible effects can be seen by this country having the highest imprisoned population in the world( largely based on class and race). We are witnessing a sharp incline in the frequency of Police killings with impunity, particularly in black (new Afrikan), brown and disadvantaged communities. Appallingly, there continue to be victims of validated counter intelligence programs that are still languishing in prison today. What we demand: 1. Abolishment of the references in the u.s constitution to slavery being allowed 2. Abolishment of the truth in sentencing laws 3. Abolishment the death penalty 4. Abolishment of all life without parole sentences 5. Reinstatement of all vocational and educational grants to prisoners and prisons for rehabilitation 6. Payment of fair wages to prisoners for any and all work performed 7. Establishment of independent review boards to investigate police killings of prisoners and civilians. 8. Review and release all political prisoners. This petition is aimed at guaging the amount of interest and support there is from individuals, organizations and supporters. We strive to bring about change and awareness to these pressing issues. There is strength in numbers, let us unite! Join us in Washington August 2017.
