Douglas Lee LaMalfa is a dedicated American politician and farmer serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 1st congressional district since 2013. He is affiliated with the Republican Party and is a prominent member of the California Republican Party. LaMalfa's district covers a substantial portion of interior Northern California, encompassing cities such as Chico, Redding, and Susanville. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the California State Assembly from 2002 to 2008, followed by a term in the California State Senate from 2010 to 2012. LaMalfa has consistently represented his district in the U.S. House of Representatives over multiple terms. Academically, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from California Polytechnic State University. Alongside his political career, he is also a self-employed rice farmer.
