I am a single mother who has worked for the government for over 15 years and in the last 1 1/2 years, I've been laid off twice. Since the first layoff at the end of December 2009, I have been trying to modify my mortgage to no avail. Bank of America temporarily approved a loan modification for 8 months and then denied a permanent modification. I have sent in countless packets of the same information only to be told several lies - it wasn't received or missing documentation. After 18 months of this process, I am no further ahead in this process then when I began. No return calls from my "negotiator" , no answer has been the same no matter how many representatives I speak with. At one point, I was told my modification was approved and it would be completed in a few weeks. That was in December 2010 and that contact is no longer employed with the Bank of America and no notes are available in their computer. This modification was denied due to a technicality but in speaking with FHA over the last 6 months, they too have been asking for the same information. I qualified for a traditional modification. I have had no response and neither has FHA who by the way insures Bank of America. The difference in dollar amount in the modfication vs. my mortgage amount was $200.00 yet, they would rather foreclosue.
