Bangladeshi Freedom Fighter Families Against Quota

The Issue

This is a petition signed by children and grandchildren of Bangladeshi Freedom Fighters.

We are here to say:

  • THIS IS NOT FREEDOM.
  • STOP holding government jobs for us and make it based on merit.
  • STOP the murder of protesters.
  • Return proper cell and internet service so we can check on our family.
  • Allow religious leaders to hold prayers for the injured and dead.
  • Allow for grieving families to have proper burials and funerals.

We are asking governments around the world and the United Nations to help put a stop to to what is happening in Bangladesh right now.

For some background: Bangladesh became an independent Country in 1971. There are a limited number of stable government jobs so the Bangladeshi government uses a quota system where 56 percent of these jobs are held for certain groups.

What's Happening Now: Students are protesting about the 30 percent held for the freedom fighters' children and grandchildren. They are protesting for the right to be considered for these jobs based on merit. To not be murdered for protesting. For the government to not hide their atrocities from the world by limiting and/or shutting down telecommunications services.
