Personally, I've seen relationships crumble due to the relentless addiction to these platforms. Arguments that start on the internet often spill over into real life, sometimes with tragic consequences, causing people to lose their lives in altercations stimulated by online conflicts.

While there may be many innocuous uses for social media, the risks and negative impacts have become too great to overlook. TikTok and Instagram, in particular, are breeding grounds for toxic behavior, misinformation, and harmful trends that endanger the fragile fabric of our society.

In recent studies, it's highlighted that excessive use of social media leads to increased feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation among users. The pressure to appear perfect and the obsessive need for likes and followers create an unhealthy environment, particularly for young people and impressionable individuals.

Furthermore, social media algorithms are designed to keep users hooked, amplifying sensational and controversial content over truthful or meaningful interactions. This enhances division and hatred among communities, breaking down social cohesion.

The United Kingdom must take a stand and protect its citizens by regulating or banning these platforms. We have seen how other countries have begun to combat the negative implications of social media, and it's time for the UK to lead by example.
