Ban Taxpayer-Funded Presidential Propaganda on Federal Buildings

Ban Taxpayer-Funded Presidential Propaganda on Federal Buildings
The Issue
Across Washington, D.C., massive banners featuring Donald Trump’s face have been draped over multiple federal buildings, including the Departments of Labor, Agriculture, and Health and Human Services. These enormous, high-visibility displays were funded using at least $50,000 of taxpayer money.
Let that sink in: your tax dollars are being used to promote the image of a sitting president on the very buildings meant to serve ALL Americans, not a single political figure.
This is not what democracy looks like. These types of political displays—government buildings wrapped in the face of the president—evoke imagery straight out of authoritarian regimes. From China to North Korea, we’ve seen how propaganda like this is used to centralize power and blur the line between public service and political loyalty. That’s not the American way.
Lawmakers like Rep. Hank Johnson and Rep. Joaquin Castro have raised serious concerns, but it’s not enough to speak out. We need action.
No president, Republican, Democrat, or otherwise, should be allowed to use public funds to build a cult of personality or promote their image on federal property.
Period.
We are calling on Congress to immediately pass legislation banning the use of taxpayer dollars for self-promotional presidential imagery on government buildings. This is not about partisanship. It’s about principle. The people’s money should serve the people, not the ego of any one leader.
Sign this petition to demand that our government upholds democratic norms and draws a clear line between public service and political spectacle. If we don’t act now, the normalization of this kind of propaganda will only grow—and so will the threat to our democracy.
