Ban Single Use Fruit and Veggie bags in Victoria
Hello, my name is Neko Grove, I'm 11 years old and I live in Victoria. Today on the news I saw horrific footage of a little baby sea bird being sliced open to reveal the shocking amount of plastic it had digested. This is when I realised how destructive plastic really is and the danger it poses to our future.
Did you know over the last 10 years we have produced more plastic than during the last 100 years! Because of this, trash islands are becoming a lot more common which is jeopardising our oceans futures. And are you aware that if we don’t take action now, our oceans and marine life are being put at serious risk. We humans have one job to do: protect the environment. Though so far we are failing.
Day after day I witness careless people trashing the streets with plastic bags, bottles, drink straws, cigarette butts and many other deadly items. This is not okay. Why have we let this happen? Why have we let our oceans and marine life die from us littering? If we knew littering plastic was threatening our earth’s very existence, why do we still do it?
Facts are called facts for a reason. You can choose to ignore them but you cannot deny they exist.
Please sign this petition to help make a difference in our community. We need to take action now before it's too late.
