The Issue

I've had enough of GoGuardian's intrusive surveillance! It's supposed to help keep students focused and safe online, but in reality, it's an unwelcome guest that's constantly watching over our shoulders, even when we're home. Imagine turning on your computer and knowing that GoGuardian can peek into your house. That's a blatant breach of privacy!

GoGuardian is marketed as a tool for teachers to manage student internet activity during class. While that sounds beneficial in theory, many educators are misusing it. Some take advantage of the software to control and monitor students excessively, using it to shut down laptops arbitrarily. It's as if having a few more years under their belt gives them unchecked authority over our digital worlds.

The goal of this petition is clear: we demand the removal of GoGuardian from our school's tools. Privacy is a right, not a privilege. Schools across the country need to recognize the genuine concerns of students and parents about privacy violations. Even though GoGuardian claims to protect students, it feels more like Big Brother watching our every move.

There are numerous cases where students have reported feeling uncomfortable and distrusted by the constant surveillance. In the digital age, it is crucial to uphold the trust between educators and students. We can establish boundaries that respect privacy without hindering educational activities. Alternative solutions can be implemented that promote safety and focus online without compromising our privacy rights.

Join me in taking a stand against this overreach. Let's show school administrators and policymakers that our privacy matters. Sign the petition to ban GoGuardian and protect our rights.
