We, the undersigned residents and community members of Anderson, California, are writing to formally request that the Anderson City Council take immediate action to terminate all contracts with Flock Safety and completely remove all Flock automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras from our public streets.

This petition is explicitly being created to serve as our community’s official, unified voice at the upcoming City Council meeting. We will be delivering these signatures directly to our council members during the public comment session to demand a policy change. To ensure our voice cannot be ignored, we are calling on every single signer to closely follow the updates on this page, share this petition widely, and show up in person to stand with us at the City Council meeting.

First and foremost, we want to declare our full, unwavering support for the Anderson Police Department. We deeply appreciate the hard work, dedication, and excellent job our local officers perform daily to keep Anderson safe. Our pushback is not against our police force; it is against the invasive, overreaching nature of the third-party technology they have been provided. We believe public safety can be successfully achieved through strong community policing without subjecting innocent citizens to continuous, 24/7 surveillance.

Across the United States, a massive and bipartisan wave of pushback has grown against Flock Safety. Dozens of cities nationwide have already reconsidered or terminated their contracts due to serious concerns that we now echo here in Anderson:

Warrantless Mass Tracking: Unlike traditional police work that investigates individuals suspected of a crime, Flock cameras continuously log, photograph, and track the movement of every single vehicle that passes them. This creates a searchable, permanent map of innocent citizens’ daily lives without a warrant or individualized suspicion.
Data Privacy & Third-Party Abuse: The data collected on Anderson residents is stored in a cloud infrastructure managed by a private, multi-billion-dollar corporation. Across the country, investigations have exposed troubling instances of data misuse, unauthorized sharing across state lines, and security vulnerabilities.
Erosion of Community Trust: True public safety relies on a foundation of mutual trust and respect between citizens and local government. Turning public roads into automated checkpoints shifts the relationship from a free community to a heavily monitored population, creating an environment of suspicion.

Anderson is just the starting point. Once we successfully present this issue to our City Council, we fully intend to expand this effort into a comprehensive, county-wide movement. Privacy rights do not stop at the town border, and we want to ensure that every resident across our broader county is protected from commercial mass surveillance.

We deserve to live in a town where our constitutional rights and privacy are fiercely protected. We do not need a privatized, nationwide mass surveillance network tracking our families just to drive to work, school, or the grocery store.

Therefore, we respectfully but firmly urge the Anderson City Council to:

Immediately halt any future expansion or contract renewals with Flock Safety.
Order the complete removal of all existing Flock cameras from public roads and property in Anderson.
Ensure the permanent deletion of all historically collected location data and vehicle fingerprints regarding our residents from the Flock database.
