The Issue

My friend and I dedicated a collective 10 hours to creating a design from start to finish, focusing on the minutest details to produce a piece of thoughtful art. This heartfelt endeavor was not just a project for us, it was an expression of our skills, creativity, and dedication to the art as students how have pride  of our school. Despite our hard work, we face the growing concern of AI-generated art potentially outranking genuine human creations in competitions.

AI technology, while a great in many fields, raises serious concerns in the art world. The increasing participation of AI in art competitions threatens traditional artists who pour their heart and soul into each piece. AI is incapable of creating anything new, therefor , when create "art work" such as a mural design, the system pulls from previous art work of other people.

The essence of art lies in the human experience, the emotions, struggles, and triumphs that are intimately woven into every brushstroke and pencil line. AI-generated murals lack this depth and essence,  they are products of algorithms, not sentiment.

To ensure a fair and meaningful cultural landscape, we urge competition organizers to create separate categories for AI-generated art or exclude them entirely. This initiative would preserve the integrity and essence of art competitions, allowing human artists to compete on an equal footing, nurturing creativity, and sustaining the spirit of genuine artistic endeavor.

Join us in preserving the sanctity of artistic authenticity. Your signature can make a difference, ensuring that art remains a realm celebrating human creativity and effort. Please sign this petition to secure a future where AI works and human-created art are appreciated separately, both for their unique values. If we let one AI "art" submission win, when will the work of real people stop?
