Hello my name is Elliott I am a young ocean ambassador with a goal to protect marine wildlife. I am 14 years old and from Victoria based near jawbone marine sanctuary where I have grown up. I am a part of an Ocean Youth organization run by Sea Life trust and I have thoroughly enjoyed the program so far. On this program I have created project, a project about something that I am really passionate about in the marine world. My passion is marine organisms, ecosystems and the whole biodiversity of the marine world, and my dream has always been growing up near a small marine reserve, to reserve more marine ecosystems for them to recover and thrive. After researching a lot, I found out why these areas were so important and the reality is if we do reserve land and help or marine wildlife it comes back to impact us with food and just the beauty of marine organisms. I have created my idea of a project called Blue Future representing wildlife and beautiful oceans to one flourish once again so in the future others can enjoy their oceans wonderful features. To do this we need to take a major step towards marine habitat conservation. As you may already know less than 1% of the earth’s oceans are designated to marine protection which is absolutely nothing. My major goal with this project is to reserve as much marine habitats and a diversity of marine habitats so that the marine life can recover. I know very well myself how much marine protected areas do for marine life living near a tiny marine sanctuary, the amount of organisms that takes coverage in the small amount of space. With the constant disturbance of human interaction and marine urbanization with the ocean many animals need these safe havens. In Victoria we have 24 Marine sanctuary’s and marine national parks all up, but they are mostly very small and in Victoria we have so much more room to reserve marine habitats with lots of room still for fishing and other agriculture to take place. Australians need to take the more steps to helping with marine life recovery and I believe with your help we can raise awareness and try get some more marine protected areas approved. These all lead to marine life recovery which will only then help us. (:
