Remove Methylisothiazolinone from products
The issue
http://www.medicaldaily.com/chemical-irritant-cosmetics-banned-europe-mit-leads-epidemic-skin-allergies-eczema-265379Methylisothiazolinone (MI/MIT) is a chemical used in beauty products like shampoos, anti-aging creams and sunscreens to name a few, that have caused SEVERE allergic reactions in 10%+ of people. That number is rising and calls for it to be banned in Europe have been heard; with the UK close behind in petitioning for the removal of this additive from products that stay on the skin. Methylisothiazolinone causes swelling, burns, skin peeling and extreme skin sensitivies and 10% is an extremely high percentage of reactions.
I am 24 years old and haven't even been able to have a warm shower in over four months because the warm water burns my skin following the reaction from using a SUNSCREEN with Methylisothiazolinone in it. It burned my skin, my face swelled to twice its size and my body peeled daily while my body was itchy and covered in red marks. It felt like my body was on fire because you could actually feel the heat coming from my body from a good half a metre away. This product burned the freckles from my cheek and I am subject to constant flare ups of swelling and peeling. My pain level on a scale of 1-10 was at least a 20 and no one should have to suffer like I did.
MI is considered to be more than twice as harmful as another ingredient called methyldibromo glutaronitrile (MDBGN), which was banned by the European Commission in 2008. This should not have happened to me but I wont allow it to happen to anyone else and that is why I have started this petition. Join me in protecting the community, your family, friends and your children from this awful chemical. Let's follow Europe's lead and ban Methylisothiazolinone in products.
