Aubrey's Law = No statute of limitations for sexual abuse prosecution

The Issue

There are millions of people whom are child sexual abuse survivors.1 in 7 children are sexual abuse survivors. 1 in 3 girls will have been molested by the age of 18.Unfortunately, there is a statute of limitations in most states for child molestation. A lot of children block what happened to them. Then when they remember as adults it's too late to prosecute their molester & see justice done.Police & other agencies sometimes lose files, do not investigate & then the statute of limitations run out so victims of sexual abuse aren't able to sue the department/departments nor are able to get help in prosecuting their abuser. Aubrey's Law will change that.It will work in the following ways. 1) It will make it a crime for people whom have knowledge of child molestation/ or alleged child molestation to not report it to the authorities  2) It will also make sure that there is no statute of limitations for prosecuting adult child sexual abusers. Not only will sexual abuse survivors help prosecutors prosecute their child abuser they will also be allowed to sue their abuser.Survivors of sexual abuse experience severe trauma because of the abuse they suffered as children. It's very difficult for these survivors of child sexual abuse to cope with what has happened to them. 3) It will also make sure authorities once they have heard of the alleged abuse to take proper action that an investigation will take place.

4) The child whom is alleging abuse by law will be placed away from their abuser & into safety until proper investigation has been completed. If the law enforcement agencies, school officials or anyone else do not come forward the survivors will also be allowed to sue any or all persons whom hindered proper police investigation including police officers/detectives whom didn't take the time to investigate.

Please sign Aubrey's Law & don't let this happen to another child.

Aubrey BennePetition StarterI am a sexual abuse survivor trying to change legislation to protect child sexual abuse survivors. The Sheriff's Office in the city I lived in during 80's & the 90's In California dropped the ball when I wanted to report my sexual abuse at the hands of my now (Ex-step Father). I went to C.P.S.,The Sheriff's Office, etc. I stood in the sheriff's office & was told "Were too busy come back later". No one followed up. My molester was never prosecuted. I can't help but often wonder how many other little girls are out there that he molested whom probably feel the exact way I do.I want childrens rights to be protected & law enforcement agencies held responsible if they don't investigate.I also think anyone whom has knowledge of child abuse should be held accountable if they fail to report it. I also believe there should be no statute of limitations to sue & or prosecute child molestors. This is for all us children whom were molested period.
