We want to thank you for your support in the campaign to save Atewa Forest from bauxite mining during 2018.
As we look back over the year it is quite amazing to us how far we have come. We have not yet succeeded in removing the great threat to Atewa Forest, and it is not yet declared a National Park, but we have had a real impact in Ghana. Our campaign has encouraged many people in Ghana, the general public, celebrities, professional associations, community leaders and local interest groups to speak up for the forest. Already we have noticed that the Government seems unwilling to talk about mining Atewa Forest in the way that they once were.
All this gives us hope that it is possible to win this battle despite the huge forces at work against us. But we can’t afford to be complacent and must redouble our efforts until we have solid reassurances that Atewa will be protected. We do hope you will be encouraged as we have been, and maintain your support to this campaign, by:
- Donating to the Atewa campaign
- Circulating this campaign to your friends via email or Facebook (also available in French, Portuguese and Spanish)
This is for the sake of all the people and the wildlife who need the forest to live.
Have a very happy Christmas,
