Ask President Obama: Please Stop the Democratic Senators Kneecapping Health Care Reform.

The Issue

President Obama,

On Tuesday, a number of Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee joined all of the Republicans in voting down three public option amendments.

While the public option can still pass on the floor of the Senate, we won't win this fight if Democrats continue to give bipartisan cover to Republican obstructionism.

As the President of the United States, as a leader of the Democratic Party and as an individual elected by the votes of millions of Americans fundamentally dissatisfied with the status quo, you have tremendous political power to influence Democratic Senators.


We need you to lead the fight for the public option. Don't wait in the wings and allow the public option to go down in the Senate.


As the President of the United States, as a leader of the Democratic Party and as an individual elected by the votes of millions of Americans who are fundamentally dissatisfied with the status quo, you have at your disposal tremendous political power and moral authority.


Please use that authority to ensure a public option is in the bill brought to the floor of the Senate and to ensure that bill is given an up-or-down vote.

F GPetition StarterI am especially interested in Humanitarian Relief, Health Care Reform, Global Warming and Animal Rights. I will diligently respond to invitations from friends to sign letters or pledges but PLEASE do not invite me to participate in actions beginning with "I demand" or other disrespectful wording. We all should know by now that force is not the answer. We have recently had the opportunity to begin anew with an administration which acts with civility and respect towards others and I would hope that our requests for action reflect this tone.
