Artstation : Ban Posting AI art
The Issue
The website:
Artstation is beautiful website for professional and upcoming artists to start their career journey or to give home to their portfolio. It’s a place where people get inspired and connect. it should be a place to share that human artistry. To celebrate the creativity of our craft, our profession. To cheer each other on! Just as open mic night for musicians.
Although AI makes some cool art, I don´t come to Artstation to look at AI generated images. I come for those people and those people only that make their art without AI.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
- ban posting AI from artstation
THE PROBLEM : IT’S THEFT AND UNETHICAL. Lately AI has slowly crawled its way in artstation. It has no place here...
Real Artists are affected. These are people who worked hard. At the moment we live in a wild west for AI generated images. It's new and has taken the art world by storm. There are no big laws for it. There are multiple AI generators being trained and producing art based on copyrighted artwork from real artists such as dutch artist Loish, kim Jung Gi, Greg Rutkoski, Sam Yang, Karla Ortiz, etc. These artists get 0 compensation for the work that got stolen. That's why it's unethical. These generators are for example lensa and midjourney. A solution for this unethical thing happening to concept art would be an ethical sourced database that compensate artists for training.
It saddens me to see AI art on the front page on artstation besides someone who worked his ass off for something amazing and learned the skills to do so. You will never see me cheer on someone for AI art. But i will cheer on every person who picks up a pencil/ wacom pen to create. and That is why i want to ban AI from artstation.
I'm no concept artist or 2D artist. I Make 3D, but i think in any form of culture we SHOULD stand together as humans, as artists to AI.
I don't want a world where the expressions of the soul is recreated by the cold mind of the machine. So stand together and share this with your friends and ask them to stand with you.
