We call upon the British authorities to arrest Martin Bashir over the deceit and dishonesty used to secure the 1995 Panorama interview with Diana, Princess of Wales.

The public already knows that forged bank statements were used and that Princess Diana was manipulated through deeply unethical tactics. What happened was not merely bad journalism. It was a disgraceful abuse of trust against a vulnerable woman who was already under immense pressure from the media and the establishment around her.

Had an ordinary member of the public used forged documents and deception in this manner, they would likely have faced serious legal consequences. There cannot be one rule for powerful media figures and another for everyone else.

For decades, the BBC failed to properly confront what happened. The British public deserves accountability at last, and those responsible should face the full force of the law.

Princess Diana deserved better. Britain deserves better.
