The Issue

Argentina should be banned from the world cup final, the third place playoff winner should be in the final instead.

This is a horrific mis-use of the world cup stage to attack the sovereignty of a nation. The Argentina team decided to abuse their victory to attack the rights of British territory. This is an effective declaration of war by the Argentina team. The standards of political impartiality are high in international football, but this egregious breach is so outrageous that the only acceptable outcome must be an outright ban. What the Argentina team did was unforgiveable.

In 1982 Argentina invaded the Falklands unprovoked which cost the lives of 100s of British service personnel. There are many veterans alive today to remember the terror of this war. After the match they had trauma shoved back in their faces which likely would have caused great distress. War is not a joke, the cost is not light-hearted, and pain still lives on today. What the Argentina team has done is directly attack UK veterans.

Put yourself in someone else's shoes - say Israel had just beaten Palestine in football match, and at the end the Israel players held up a sign "The gaza strip belongs to us". Can you imagine the outrage? They would certainly be banned. The same must apply to Argentina.

I call on the UK prime minister to contact FIFA and demand a world cup final ban for Argentina.

I call on as many people as possible to contact FIFA and ask for the same.
