Our area, known for its stunning natural beauty, offers limited options for camping that are both accessible and adequately private for a quick weekend getaway. The lack of such facilities has been a long-standing concern, and securing a special permit for a local campsite could bring positive change, addressing numerous community needs.

Currently, the proposal for a new campsite, ideally situated to serve community members, church groups, youth organizations, and military personnel, is facing an obstacle. The local fire department has refused to extend its support for the permit, despite the fact that they already travel through the proposed site to serve four other existing businesses. This decision has unfairly stalled a project that promises significant benefits.

This campsite will not only provide a much-needed recreational venue but will also offer vital job opportunities for local residents.
