Appoint Iman Elbadawi as Parent Liaison at South Lake High School

Appoint Iman Elbadawi as Parent Liaison at South Lake High School
The Issue
Over the past year, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible support and understanding that Iman Elbadawi has offered to families like mine. My child, along with many others at South Lake High School, has greatly benefited from her presence and advocacy. As a parent within Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), I have come to realize the immense importance of having a representative who truly understands and speaks our language.
The Arabic-speaking community in Reston, VA, is rapidly growing, and with it, the need for effective communication between schools and families is more crucial than ever. Many Arabic-speaking households face challenges in navigating the educational system due to language barriers. This not only affects the students' academic performance but also their overall well-being. An Arabic-speaking liaison can bridge these gaps, ensuring better student outcomes and more cohesive community relations.
Iman Elbadawi has already proven her dedication and skill in serving as a bridge between the school and our families. Her cultural understanding and language skills make her uniquely qualified for this position. Without a dedicated liaison, many families feel unheard and disconnected from the school's activities and policies that directly impact their children's education.
Appointing Iman Elbadawi as a parent liaison at South Lake High School is not just beneficial—it is essential. This position would enable her to continue her invaluable work in advocating for and addressing the specific needs of Arabic-speaking families. Her appointment would demonstrate the school's commitment to inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that all voices, regardless of language, are represented and respected.
Support this petition to appoint Iman Elbadawi, so that every student and family at South Lake High School can receive the support and representation they deserve. Sign this petition to help us bring positive and necessary change to our community.
