You must have been reading about high speed trains mowing down big elephants along with its family members? This while the train is travelling through forests that belong to all these wild animals. Cars and trucks travelling on highways that travel through these wild jungles, also smash into animals that realise too late that a vehicle is racing towards them. Many times smaller animals such as deer, leopard,  monkeys vanish into the jungles screaming away in extreme pain , after being terribly wounded .  I wrote several times to the Forest Department requesting that bridges be constructed over forested land. That both trains and vehicles must travel over flyovers thus allowing wild animals to travel freely below the bridge. This will ensure that wild animals do not get mowed down by Cars, and Trains . To avoid monkeys from climbing onto the bridge, a "U" shaped wire net above the flyover will stop the monkeys from climbing onto the high speed traffic route. 

But I guess such long bridges do not make business/commercial sense and hence nobody bothers about a few terribly wounded animals or a few  motherless elephant calf.

But you are an animal lover! You can make a huge difference. Our country's economic condition is such that it is not fair to burden our country any further.  But animal lovers of the world have hearts that are richer than the World Bank surely. Let any NGO working for saving wild life,  present us with a good bridge  project over any big forest and then let such an NGO present us with their bank details. I am certain that India has ample number of animal lovers to finance many such projects. Let us have bridges running over all the forested lands in India.
