Francesca Davies started this petition to Anglia Ruskin University

After having completed my History BA (Hons) degree in 2020, like thousands of other students across the country, I was exremely disappointed to learn that my formal graduation ceremony at Anglia Ruskin University would not be going ahead. In the first instance, the ceremony was cancelled because of the Corona Virus pandemic, and the date was simply pushed back.

Now I have received information from Anglia Ruskin University, that the graduates of 2020 will not be receiving a formal graduation ceremony to celebrate all of the hard work they put into acheiving their degrees, but instead we have been offered an online event. Personally, I find this completely appauling, and upon speaking to many of my fellow graduates across a range of subjects, many feel like this is an insult. The majority of people whom I have spoken to regarding this matter, would rather not attend this online event, and it really feels like Anglia Ruskin University does not care able celebrating the results of the graduates of 2020.

What makes matters worse is that Anglia Ruskin have already announced that the students graduating in 2021 will infact get a formal graduation ceremony. This is being held on the week commencing the 18th of October 2021 for the Cambridge branch of this University. Why are we unable to have our formal graduation ceremony in October of 2021 like these graduates will. Why can't Anglia Ruskin University simply postpone the formal graduation ceremony for the graduates of 2020 too, and give them the celebration that they deserve, especailly given this trying year.
