Hello New York State Hockey Families: 

As you all well know, due to the coronavirus pandemic and New York State restrictions our kids in youth hockey have not been allowed to play games in our home state. Instead, many hockey families have been travelling out of state in order to play the game we all love. Often we travel to states that have a much higher incidence of the virus than we do in any part of NYS. So why not just play against each other WITHIN the state, traveling to safer locations that are closer to home?  We have a low incidence here in New York, plenty of competition, and extensive safety protocols in place at rinks that are already proving very successful in hosting practices while negating the spread of the virus. At a time when we need to support local business, playing in-state games and scrimmages would generate revenue for the cities and towns where teams travel— and most importantly our kids would get to play the game they love this winter in the safest possible location: our own great state of New York.  

Please sign the petition if you agree that in-state hockey is the best and safest option for our kids and let’s see if we can gain approval for a great, commonsense plan.
