Commuter Rail already exists in Southeastern Michigan, and activating the system will connect the Suburbs with The Q Line, making it more than 'a people mover boondoggle'. 

Rather than an expensive, time delayed, far reaching plan to create a RTA, let's take the first and simple step of adding 2 local trains a day from Pontiac-Detroit-Ann Arbor. Michigan owns trains mothballed in Owosso which could be added to the existing rail line, and the 6 daily services would move 1,000s of people from suburbs to city without expensive parking, traffic congestion and auto injury. 

Yes, fix the damn roads, but reduce the wear by using the existing commuter rail system. 

Imagine people riding from Oakland County to LCA, or college students living at UM Dearborn/Ann Arbor coming for a concert on the train. It could start happening next week if the political will decided it so. No big tax increase, no time consuming plan. just 2 more local trains. 

It's time to join the rest of the world as a 'real urban region' and utilize our existing infrastructure. Commuter Rail Now is the easiest first step.
