This is an open letter to all of our leaders throughout the United States. It is meant to show them that there are many of us Americans that have worked faithfully for years in this country and want nothing more than to return to work. We are tired of the name calling and would like to see some real solutions towards job creation in our country. We are not lazy. We want to work. We need the extended benefits to keep us with a small amount of funds in order to keep looking for employment. These benefits in no way provide for a lifestyle that we want nor desire.
Attached is a copy of my resume. As you can see, I have been a hardworking taxpayer for the last _____years. In addition to applying for those jobs that are within my skill set, I have also been applying to jobs that require less than those skills that I can bring to an organization.
I dislike having to ask for assistance, but I am out of options other than to ask for your continued support of extended unemployment assistance. This small amount does not cover all my financial obligations, but will keep me afloat to persevere in my job search. These are extraordinary times and to deny the extension could, for some people, make the difference between being homeless and facing starvation.
Please reconsider your vote for extending these benefits. Also, if you know anyone who needs a person with my skills, please feel free to send my resume to them.
