Amend the United Kingdom Flag to Represent Wales

Amend the United Kingdom Flag to Represent Wales
The Issue
As a dedicated and passionate sportsman in the United Kingdom, it is disheartening to constantly watch the Union Jack being waved vigorously at major sporting events like the Olympics.
The flag is meant to represent the unity of our home countries; however it conspicuously leaves out Wales. It pains me to know that my fellow Welshmen and women are being overlooked on this significant symbol that should promote unity and equality.
The current Union Jack flag combines elements of three national flags: England (Cross of St. George), Scotland (Cross of St. Andrew), and Ireland (Cross of St. Patrick), yet it fails to incorporate any elements of the Welsh flag (White and Green fields, Red Dragon). While it's historically attributed to the fact that Wales was part of the Kingdom of England when the first Union Flag was designed in 1606, the modern-day reality is that Wales is an integral part of the United Kingdom and should be equally represented.
Residents of Wales make up approximately 5% of the total UK population (Office for National Statistics, 2021). We stand as proud, unique individuals who contribute significantly to the cultural, economic, and social fabric of the United Kingdom.
It's high time that our Union Jack flag reflects the true nature of our union – inclusive, diverse, and representative of all home countries. Let us rally for an updated design that recognizes Wales, promotes equality and gives all citizens the sense of belonging that they deserve. Please sign this petition and join forces in the fight for fair representation of all countries in the Union Jack.
