We are petitioning for a change to allow smart shorts as part of the school uniform and have done a little research to show why this change is important. Students are not just uncomfortable, their education is suffering and as the summers grow hotter it's affecting their concentration and how well they learn.

Research has shown that hotter school days prior to tests have resulted in lower test outcomes (climate change committee).

Even at the lower temperatures likely to be experienced in classrooms, heat still leads to a loss of concentration and increased tiredness, which means that teachers are more likely to put themselves or others at risk. Children, particularly very young ones, are likely to suffer most in extreme heat and may not know how to protect themselves. (national education union).

This petition is being raised by a group of school children hoping for a change in uniform to adapt to the extreme heat that we have been experiencing.
