The issue

Dogs are currently not allowed in Australian National Parks of which there are over 650. This law makes it very difficult for many Australians with their family pet to visit some of the most beautiful areas in Australia.  In order to visit a National Park, dog owners either need to find dog or house sitters, use expensive kennels or alternatively be excluded from many parts of Australia.   We would therefore like to see the law changed to allow dogs into National parks with their owners, providing the dogs are kept on leashes and owners clean up any poops.  Some suggestions for compromise include introducing permits;  restricting access to Parks during peak breeding times; or closing off some parks on alternate years.
