Protect our wives and children from sexual assault in Alaska

The Issue

Right now in Alaska, the law defines sexual contact as: "knowingly touching, directly or through clothing, the victim's genitals, anus, or female breast; or (ii) knowingly causing the victim to touch, directly or through clothing, the defendant's or victim's genitals, anus, or female breast" As opposed to the federal law which states "touching or causing another person to touch, either directly or through the clothing, the genetalia, anus, groin, breast, inner thigh, or buttocks of any person, with the intent to abuse, humiliate, or degrade any person" Therefore, if someone touches you or your child close to, but not directly on your/their genetalia, they will walk free. This exact situation happened to me recently at a nail salon where I was gropped about 6 inches from my vagina and because Alaska state law does not include the inner thigh in their definition of sexual contact (and there for sexual assault) the person who assaulted me was not so much as questioned. The Alaska state law needs to recognize the groin and inner thigh as parts of the body to be included in the definition of sexual contact and therefore, protected under the law of sexual assault. Right now in Alaska it is LEGAL for someone to touch you or your child's groin or inner thigh, the most that can happen is you can attempt to have them arrested on grounds of harassment, please stand with me on fixing this issue and making Alaska a safer and stricter state on sexual assault.
